I’m 67, and I’m in the process of buying a new whole life insurance policy. Commonly, people have the misconception that you don’t need life insurance at my age. Yet I’m here to say that it’s never too late to start a policy, and it has more benefits than you may think.

So why would I want whole life insurance now?

Desirelessness: The absence of desire.

In the context of life, isn’t desirelessness the ultimate goal? That you should be so satisfied with your life that you want for nothing?

To achieve this, you must work on your mindset. Primarily, you should work on flexing your gratitude muscles. The thing about gratitude is that it helps you appreciate what you have and can make you more content over time. The more you invite this into your life, the more gratitude you can feel for other things in your life. And eventually, that gratitude will help you reach a sense of complete gratitude.

I recently met a young man of 6 years old who embodied the joy and community that can be found in entrepreneurship.

While at the vet, I stumbled upon a table full of delicious-looking vegetables that someone had grown in their garden. When I asked about purchasing some, they called up the “proprietor,” who turned out to be this 6-year-old young man.

With immense joy, he shared about his garden and what he had grown and happily listed off prices. Talking with him gave me a burst of energy and his enthusiasm warmed my heart. After all, he found something he loved to do and wanted to share it with the world.

If you think you’re ever done learning, think again.

You have an infinite capacity to learn, and I encourage you to use it.

So often, we get trapped in the mindset that “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” or there’s a point at which you somehow lose the ability to retain more information. This is such a harmful mindset to accept, so I encourage you not to buy in!

When you have a savings account at the bank, a few things are happening. For starters, if you withdraw money from your savings account, you lose all future earning potential. You may be able to put the money back in, but you won’t be able to make up for lost time.

We are all connected, more than you think. In fact, everything is connected. Materially speaking, atoms and molecules are always in motion and moving.

I find this empowering because it shows that we’re not only called to serve one another, but we’re called to have connection. I call this connection collaboration: when people come together and bring their best skills to the table so that everyone wins.
