Yes, even if you don’t own your own business, you are an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs are innovators. They bring value to the marketplace, and to people’s lives. Entrepreneurs solve problems and get paid for that.

If you don’t think you own and operate a business, think again. The way that you show up to your job each day, and the work that you do, is entrepreneurial. You represent the business of YOU, and what you have to offer the world. Your product is whatever skills and traits God made you with.

Something my dad always used to say to me was to read the instructions first. As a child, I would plow through projects anyway, to varying results. And typically, I’d find myself thinking about how right he was.

There were things I didn’t know that I didn’t know, and reading the instructions were the only way to learn.

Whole life insurance is a valuable asset and a complex one. And before you commit, there are things you should know. You want to read the “instructions.” By this, I mean you want to read the fine print, read the contracts, and ask your insurance agent as many questions as you can. The more knowledge you have, the more you can effectively use the asset, and purchase the right policy for you.

Recently, I shared thoughts with you about 10 things you might not have known about whole life insurance. I’ve found that there are many misconceptions out there about whole life insurance, so I feel that it’s important to right those wrongs.

So why does it matter?

Well, an understanding of where we come from can help us decide how best to proceed. Collectively, as humans, history helps us learn from our mistakes, and it can reveal mistakes we may not have been aware of.

Control is about having your money live in places and institutions that don’t lock your money away and make choices on your behalf. You just need to have the desire to change a few of your money habits to get more desirable results for yourself.

It’s a Private Contract
One of my favorite things about whole life insurance is the privacy afforded to you and all other policyholders. No one outside of the insurance company has a right to see or access your policy information. This includes the IRS, creditors, and other institutions who might want a peek at what you’ve got. Whatever’s in your policy is between you and your carrier, and it’s as simple and powerful as that.

Finances can be a sensitive topic because often it’s about more than just money. It’s about hopes, habits, dreams, and more. You deserve to feel a sense of peace about your finances. More than that, peace should be the NORM when it comes to discussing finances.

One way to find that peace is to dissolve the “mysteries” of money, and especially dissolving the fear tactics often used in financial conversations. Your financial well-being doesn’t have to depend on the big “what-ifs” of the stock market, nor should you have to worry about the next recession, what is happening to the banks, etc.

Life takes time. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and you’ll find that most things worth doing can’t be created in a day either. Stories take time, energy, and dedication to the craft. A career requires the same to build. And you can’t have an abundant savings account overnight. Even our hobbies require time to nurture the necessary skills.

Part of the beauty of life is that there’s no prescribed timeline for your life to unfold. You simply decide something is worth doing and watch as it transforms your life before your eyes. It may happen slowly, but that’s the beauty of it.

You don’t know what you don’t know.

The problem is that many people are to busy or are plum tuckered out to learn new material. And while complete omniscience is not possible for us humans, knowledge is a blessing. The pursuit of knowledge is a noble one, and it can enrich our lives in many ways.
